According to the latest data from market research firm Rho Motion, global sales of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles rose 13 percent in June from a year earlier, driven by growth in China, while sales in Europe declined. Charles Lester, data manager at Rho Motion, said global NEV sales reached 1.4 million units in June, 860,000 of which were in China, up 25 percent year on year.
European NEV sales fell 7 per cent to 300,000 units, with Finland, Ireland and the Netherlands recording the biggest declines, while Italy saw a 34 per cent increase in sales following government stimulus measures. Sales in the U.S. and Canada rose 6 percent from a year earlier to 140,000 vehicles.
