These pumps have many vanes that slide freely in and out of slots in the pump rotor. As the pump driver rotates the rotor, centrifugal force, the push rod, and/or pressurized fluid cause the vanes to move outward in their slots and press against the inner bore of the pump housing, forming pump chambers.
As the rotor rotates, fluid flows through the suction port into the area between the vanes (pump chambers). This fluid is transported around the pump housing until it reaches the outlet. At this point, the fluid is forced into the outlet line.
